About This Product:
The 2022 Repco Bathurst 1000 featured 28 cars entered in the event making it the biggest grid seen for the Great Race since 2013.
Of those cars, 19 Holden ZB Commodores would feature - in what would be the final time Holden would race at the mountain in the 1000 - along with 9 Ford Mustang GTs. Of those cars, three wildcards were entered and a wet and wild weekend of racing ensued.
Such was the wild nature of the weather, the Top 10 Shootout had to be cancelled due to safety concerns. With rivers of water flowing down the mountain on late Saturday afternoon, it was the first time since its introduction that the Shootout wasn't held. As a result, the top 10 starting positions were determined based on the previous days qualifying.
Reigning 2021 Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert was back at the mountain again hoping to go back-to-back albeit with a new co-driver in 2022, the experienced Fabian Coulthard, making the pairing a formidable combination behind the wheel of the #25 Mobil 1 Optus Racing Holden ZB Commodore.
Come race day, Coulthard started the race from 3rd on the grid in challenging conditions which saw massive puddles, rivers and standing water create havoc for much of the field in the early stages of the race, triggering carnage and multiple safety cars.
The kiwi co-driver did a tremendous job throughout all his stints, using his experience to avoid massive drama and ultimately hand the car back to Mostert in a position to attack for the win.
And attack he did. As the race heated up with two stints to go, Mostert sat in third, right behind the rear of Brodie Kostecki and was helped into 2nd place with some fast pit stop work from the team.
From there, it was a shootout to the end between race leader Shane Van Gisbergen and Mostert, with both drivers setting qualifying style laps with the finish line in sight.
Ultimately though, Mostert and Coulthard just fell short to finish in 2nd place, making it the 6th straight podium finish for the team at the Bathurst 1000.
Don’t miss this 1:43 scale model which has been produced in high quality sealed body die-cast with clear windows, detailed interior and will be presented in a display case with a printed base featuring the car details and an individually numbered backing board as the Certificate of Authenticity.
